Need a little help

I am participating in a couple of swaps over on Instagram (IG) and one of the is a Christmas Stocking swap.  I have plans to make my partner a stocking but I'm working on her "little extra" first.

I've been on a dresden kick lately and wanted to make a mini wall-hanging for my partner.  She expressed interest in having something she could keep out all year round in her sewing room.  Her room colors are navy, cream, orange, with a hint of lime.

I've been messing around with an idea in my head and have since started making my dresden blades.  My thought is to go mainly go with navy and every 3rd or 4th blade would be either orange or lime green.  Just to give it a little pop.

I thought the orange would be the one I would like but now I'm not sure.  I made a couple of lime blades to compare and I'm liking that much more.

What do you think?

Navy with a pop of Orange
Navy with pop of Lime
here they are all three.  Final project won't be all three though
So?  What do you think?  Navy with a pop or orange or pop of lime?  The center of dresden will be the navy fabric. I thought I would do a pop of opposite color; orange or lime depending on which color I went with as an accent but I think that will be too much.  I will most likely bind in the accent color.

I have a little more to share with you soon.  I've been busy over here, sewing away.  Just haven't snapped any pictures.

Enjoy your day!

Okay. Christmas can come now

Last December while scrambling to finish all my other Christmas gifts, I felt I NEEDED to make stockings for our family.  I got one made for Punk and hadn't thought about them again.  Fast forward... Sharon had a fabric sale this Spring?  Summer?  and I bought fabrics for my stocking and Chris'.  You would think having all Summer off from work that I would work on them.  Because believe me, the fabric stared me right in the face and I totally ignored it.

Then the scramble started.  Thanksgiving weekend.  And I finished them last night.  I'm happy.  We don't have a fireplace or mantle so they are hung on our staircase.  It's the only good place for them.

Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater for Chris
Christmas Candy by Riley Blake for me
All three together
Ahhhh.  That's better.  Santa can come fill our stockings now.

Enjoy your day!

Friday Night Sew In Results

The title to this post should really be "Friday DAY Sew In Results".  I had Friday off and I got lots done.

I got her stocking done!!  WOOHOO!!  And I LOVE IT!!  LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!  I did a simple stocking but it is adorable.  I modified the pattern a bit.  The way it is written will give exposed raw edges on the inside and I think I've collected enough knowledge in my bag and tote making that I could handle changing things up.  So instead of quilting the lining pieces with the top and batting, I made two separate parts and attached them as I would a bag lining.  And I embroidered Amelia's name.  Did I tell you that I love it??

I really wanted the red snowman fabric from this line but I couldn't find it.  I searched and searched.  So I settled on the green.

I made some Dr. Seuss pillowcases that will go under the tree for her to open.

And some Christmas candy/winter ones for her bed for now.

Lastly, I made a treat bag using the tutorial that Kim kindly shared with us back in October.  I plan on making a second one and using them for Amelia's teacher's Christmas gifts.

That is what I got done during my Friday DAY sew in.  And I'm really happy!  Looking forward to next week's sew-in.  I have plans to work on my BOM blocks.

Enjoy your day!
