Adding to the stash

* if you are looking for the Large Quilt Block book giveaway, check out this post *

Just over a week ago, we packed up the truck and took a road trip to Bird-In-Hand, PA.  My husband had a few things to get for the farm and corn planting.  Punk had Spring Break for school so she and I tagged along.

We spent a very nice few days in Bird-In-Hand and just hung out.  We toured a small pretzel factory.  Went to tour Turkey Hill and got free ice cream out of that deal.  Swam our cares away in the 2 indoor pools.  It was family time at its best.

What I did was spend some money and brought home some cotton goodness.

I went with a very detailed list.  There were a few things I was determined to find.  Couple things I did, others were a bust.  Ah.  Just gives me an excuse to shop online.

Charms packs, big and small.  If you can't see the minis, those are "Aspen Frost".  I had a generic catagory on my list called "mini charms".  These fit that bill.

A few patterns.  "Flirt" was on my list and I'm happy I found it.  I bought all the yardage to make this wallhanging a few months ago but never got around to buying the patten.  Now there is no excuses on my part.  I just have to find that yardage I bought.  It's hiding in my sewing room somewhere..... Dilly Dally jumped into my hands; as did Winter White. I think Marmalade will be Dilly Dally and Odds and Ends - Winter White.  That is my thought right now.

This Riley Blake yardage is strictly stash.  I just liked it so I bought a few 1/2 yard cuts from the line.

The neutral peeking in is for a memory quilt and I need to get started on for my Grandmother.

The rest?  Pillowcases.  The farm themed yardage (the cows) is Punkie's contribution to my shopping.  She and Daddy, according to her, needed farm pillowcases.  I did not get any yardage for myself since there is a farm line that came out earlier this month that I adore and I will make my pillowcase out of it when I buy some.

All the pillowcase fabrics have been washed and now are in waiting.  I hope to get a few done on Friday.  Again, work has been busy and the weather has finally changed to Spring so we've been working outside on our landscaping.  No sewing here.

Hope all is well where you are!

Enjoy your day!

Sweet Pea

Hello!  How is everyone?  Things are moving along over here.  I've been working on a lap quilt for myself.  I just love Heather Mulder Peterson's fabrics.  The colors and designs on her fabrics just suit me.  When I saw the pattern Sweet Pea and the fabrics used on the cover, I knew I needed it all.

Then I packed it away for a "someday I'll work on it" project.  Well, that some day is this week.  I busted it out and did all my cutting last week.  Now I'm putting blocks together has they are laid out on the pattern cover.

Opps!  Missed one there.

So that's what I've been up to on the sewing front.

Over the holiday weekend, my husband and I went away for overnight stay at a B&B in New Hampshire.  It was nice to get away, just he and I.  Of course he indulged me with some fabric shopping while I let him stop a few times to look at rusty old steel (tractors and construction equipment) so it was a win-win for both of us.

First place we stopped at was New England Fabrics in Keene, NH.  They have garment fabric, home dec and upholstery fabrics and quilitng.  Friendly employees as well.  Not a whole lot of quilting fabric but I did find some things that came home with me.  And I forgot to check their clearance section!

I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with the fabric and now that I'm home, I wished I bought enough yardage of the Michael Miller flowered fabric (the dark gray) for pillowcases.  SHOOT!  I'll just have to hunt it down online.

On our way home on Sunday, we stopped at another shop.  The Norton House in Wilmington, VT.  A "Quilter's Paradise" it is not.  I was disappointed in that shop.  One being the fabric selection; I did find some nice patriotic fabric that I could use for something.  The other thing was the customer service or lack there of.  I walked in and saw two employees.  One sitting at a desk in an office but with the door open.  Another straightening shelves.  BOTH of them made eye contact with me more than once and neither one of them greeted me or asked if they can help me find a particular fabric.  I walked back to the patriotic fabric that I spotted and went to grab the bolts but I told my husband "forget it.  No one has even greeted me.  I'm not spending my money here." And we left.  Bummed me out because then I could have spent a bit more money at the store in New Hampshire!

The hot and muggy weather has left us for a while.  Today is cool, breezy and just awesome outside.  I may just have to go out there and enjoy it!

Have a great day!

Danger, Will Robinson!

Oh boy.  I'm in trouble now.

There is a family owned sewing and vac business in my area.  They have a few locations spread throughout the state and they do carry fabric.  A smallish selection but it's there.  What I like about the shops is that they carry more of the fabrics that I like (Riley Blake, Heather Mulder Peterson...) but they are out of my way so I don't go to them very often.  If I go, it's a "special" trip.

I got their newsletter/ad pamphlet in the mail yesterday.  One of their locations is moving in June.  Moving RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER from my mom's house!  Seriously.  I would drive by it every time I went to visit my mom!

I didn't know it was literally at the stop light where I turn to get to my mom's until this morning.  The address was bugging me.  It sounded familiar so this morning I did some searching.  I googled a bunch of the big business along the route to figure out their address and once I hit it, I realized just where this new shop is going to be.

When I visit my mom, I will have to leave my credit cards at home!  Too tempting!

On another note, looks like my 12 Days of Christmas BOM post has been restored from the whole Blogger mess.  If you missed it, it's a few posts down.

Have a great weekend!
