Inspiration

Carol spent the month of July posting things she made for Christmas.  Either for gifts or decorations to use in her home.  Not everything was "christmasy" and one of her projects caught my eye.  A table runner she made with Hometown by Sweetwater.  I really like it and thought I would make the same for my new kitchen.

I found and ordered the pattern and made mine out of Lucy's Crab Shack.  The colors in the fabrics coordinate well with my kitchen.  I followed Carol's lead and did my borders the same.  The ric rac border used in the pattern is cute but I wanted to finish this one quickly and didn't want to fuss.

I haven't had a chance to quilt it yet but I HOPE to get it done for Amelia's birthday.  Simple straight lines for me.  But I'm not holding my breath.  There are 4 quilts that I would like to get quilted and I have been having a hard time pinning my husband down to help me cut the backings.  He is the math whiz.  I just wing it but I need him for these.  :)

That's the little sewing I got to do.  I will make this pattern again. Super cute.  Super quick and really easy.  My kind of project!  :)

Thanks for the inspiration, Carol!

Enjoy your day!

The Latest

Happy 4th!  Okay, I'm a day late.  I hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe holiday.  I would love to tell you that I partied the weekend away but sadly, nope.  Nothing like that.  Homebody that I am, I stayed VERY close to home.  I never left... except to go to the grocery store yesterday.  Amelia has been away since Thursday, enjoying some time with her Grandma and Grandpa in New Hampshire.  She will be home sometime this afternoon.  My husband worked most of the weekend because he could.  I, on the other hand, watched a bunch of junk on TV and sewed.  The neighbors did invite us over yesterday to watch fireworks and while I was very gung-ho about going in the afternoon, come time after dinner to head out... I fell asleep on the couch.  My husband went alone.

I have been busy sewing.  Here are a few things that I finished up.  First up is a beach bag for Punkie.  PLEASE keep in mind that I did not... I repeat... I DID NOT... pick out the fabrics that are used in this bag.  Punkie did.  It's her bag and she will be pleased to see it all together today.  It was a WIP when she left.
Lovely, isn't it?
Next is a Pinwheel Charm Tote for one of the hairdressers where I go.  She's been wanting one since March and I left it up to her to cruise the internet and find fabrics that she liked.  When she told me she couldn't decide and left that chore up to me, I couldn't decide either!  This is what I went with:
Dream On by Urban Chicks

Last up... table runner with my Sanibel scraps.  The table runner pattern is available within the Sweet Pea quilt top pattern.  I thought it would be a good size for my table or my china hutch.  Not sure how I'm going to quilt this one yet.
Come back soon.  I've been playing with my embroidery arm of my sewing machine.  I'll have to show you what I made.

Enjoy your day!

Friday Night Sew In Results

I did get a little bit done yesterday.  I would have liked to get one more thing done but it didn't work out.  I was tired.

I finished the pinwheel table runner top that I started.  It needs to be quilted but I want to see if my LQS has the Blush fabric.  They did carry some of it once upon a time.  I'll just need to hunt for it.  If not, I'll find a soft brown to use.  This is for my cousin in celebration of her 40th birthday.

Next is part one of my embroidery project for myself.  I like it.  Hopefully my vision comes through when it's all done.

I did wash some Halloween fabric to make pillowcases for Punkie but I was too lazy to walk down into the basement to get it out of the dryer.  Which reminds me... I think it's still down there. LOL!

That's it.  Feels good to get something done.  Now I'm going to concentrate on getting Punkie's Halloween costume done and the table runner quilted.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Economic Stimulation

Hello there!  How is everybody today?  I have been busy creating but I'm not ready to show anything yet.  So why don't I show you all the fabric I bought last week!  We all love fabric!

Here it is.

The Birdie and Candy Land fabric will be made into pillowcases for Amelia.  I love pillowcases.  Quick to do and they show off fun fabrics.  Instant gratification is good in my book.

Next is some Wildflowers yardage by Heather Mulder Peterson.  My LQS has an annual anniversary sale in May and I got these for 20% off.  Not bad.  She just got these bolts in too.  I wish she had gotten more of the collection.  Maybe some of the reds.  But I'll take what I can get.  I have plans to go to another quilt shop on Saturday morning since I haven't been there in ages and see what they have.  Last time I was there, this other shop had Wildflowers.  I'm sure it won't still be there but doesn't hurt to check!

And then I thought I was done shopping.  But NOOOOOOOOO.

Here is some Rebel Roses yardage by Heather MP.  The story goes like this.  Last year some time, Heather was promoting some table runner kits and her Sizzling Sixties pattern book and a 60' ruler on her blog.  I LOVED the tablerunner so I snatched up a kit.  Never looked at it again.  Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago.  I have so many things started (don't we all) and other things waiting to see the light of day.  So I dug around and decided to make a new runner for my table.  I dove right in and started making my pieced hexagons ONLY to find out that I was shorted some fabric!!  WHHHHHHHYYYYYYY?!?!  I cried!  Of course the hexagons I started were the ones short fabric.

Okay, seriously.  What is up with Blogger??  Every third picture is going to be oriented wrong?!  It's fine in my folder.

I quickly ran to the computer (while swearing up a storm!) and found some yardage doing a quiltshops.com search.  FYI - LOVE that search engine.  It is marvelous!  One shop had 2 of the three I was missing.  I needed to substitute the blue print for another.  No one around had the blue print I needed.  A couple of shops in New Zealand did.... I passed.  Now that my additional yardage is here, I can continue working on my hexagons.  Hopefully I'll have the top pieced soon so that I can show it to you.

Enjoy your day!
Jen :)
