Taffy and Caramel

During the Thanksgiving festivities this year, my SIL asked me if we were interested in adopting. Adopting a couple of kittens, that is. You see, she is a vet tech and someone had dropped off 19 cats of various ages - kittens to adults. Apparently, the family fell on hard times and were leaving their home and wanted the cats to have good homes. But they are a vet clinic and not a shelter so they had to find homes for the cats.

I told her that it would be up to my husband. I knew Amelia would enjoy having "babies" in the house. Well, once my husband held the little ones, he was smitten and Taffy and Caramel came home with us a week later.
This is Taffy. She's a short hair. She's slowly getting used to us. She still runs and hides when we walk into a room if we startle her. But when you get a chance to hold and pet her, her motor starts running.
And here's her sister, Caramel. Same colorings but Caramel is a long hair. SHE is a love bug. Loves attention and to be pet. Purrs like crazy.

Amelia just adores them. They are getting used to her. Amelia tends to run up to them to play and then they run away. If I bring one of them to her and stick around, the kitties tend to stick around too.

Buddy, our older male cat, hasn't batted an eye at them. I think he hissed when he first saw them and then, nothing. He ignores them. Or just watches them play with each other. He's very easy-going. He knows he's still Top Cat.

So, that's Taffy and Caramel. Terrors on 8 paws. I'm afraid to decorate our Christmas tree. The tree is in the house and so far, they have left it alone but there's nothing shiny on the tree at the moment. I pray they leave it alone.

Enjoy your day!

New Furniture and Some Picnic Pals

My new furniture is here. WOOHOO! I even shampooed the area rug. Can't have brand spanking new furniture with a stained carpet! Looks all nice and fresh now. Except for the constant clutter. You don't realize how cluttered your house is until you take a picture of it. Art supplies tucked under the end table, basket FULL of books, coffee table littered with Amelia drawings and little trinkets, bookcase full of Daddy's collectibles AND more of Amelia's trinkets and toys. I need to do some serious DE-cluttering. Notice I didn't mention any of my stuff. LOL. I have plenty in there too. You just don't see it. ;)

Here is Chris's favorite new spot, the club chair recliner...

We had a big purple chair and a half in this spot which I loved but it was just too big. It is now in Amelia's new bedroom (our old Master bedroom) and she will be able to curl up in it and read or do whatever.

New couch...

Not really the color I was going for. Our old couch, which will be going to New Hampshire next week if it doesn't rain, was green. I was hoping for something else but there really isn't anything out there. I really liked this one. The back cushions are a bit too poofy yet. Couple months of Amelia hanging out on it and it will be nicely broken in.

And some picnic pals. Amelia and I went to a family picnic on Sunday and her pals Jake and Lucas were there. They had a great time together and Amelia requested that they get invited to her birthday party next month.

Jake just turned 4 so he and Amelia are the same age. Lucas is now 2. Lucas and Jake are brothers and they are the sons of my cousin's cousin... other side of family. When Jake and Amelia get together, they are just so cute! They give hugs and kisses to each other and hold hands. ♥

Enjoy your day!

Thanks for the Encouragement!

How great are blog friends?? Thank you so much for the encouraging words on my quest. My husband doesn't talk much about it with me which is fine. He knows it's my battle to fight but he's there if I need him. He's a strong rock to lean against.

I'm doing great so far. Going on Day 4! The Chantix prescription really has helped A LOT. My moods are pretty even - which is RARE for me. I'm not yelling my head off or getting easily irritated. My dreams are a little more bizarre than usual but not violent. I went to see my doctor this afternoon and he was happy that I'm on the right track.
So thank you everyone!
Here's a picture of my latest vice. My obsession really.

They really help when I'm driving in the car. But I'm running low on Tootsie Pops. I will be stocking up again in a couple of days.

Just a few other pictures from our nice weekend. We took Amelia to the park Sunday early afternoon and we enjoyed some ice cream afterwards.

Buddy came up to visit Punkie while she was lounging around on the couch... Amelia was very excited to have him visit with her.

And here's my favorite picture from the weekend. Amelia must have been waiting for rain. This is how I found her Sunday afternoon while she was napping.

My sweet Punkie Pie!

Enjoy your day!
