Headbands!

Punk is a hair chewer.  It's a bad habit that we are trying to break.  She only does it when she is nervous or concentrating.  We've tried pulling her hair back but she doesn't like pony tails for very long.  Her hair is too fine for barrettes. It's a struggle, I tell ya.

At Christmas, my aunt gave Punk a very pretty outfit and with the outfit, she gave her a 6 pack of elastic headbands.  I didn't think Amelia would even use them but I put them in her bathroom anyway just to see.

Amelia discovered them and she's been wearing a headband almost everyday now. Keeps her hair away from her face (and mouth) and she is putting a strong effort into breaking the hair chewing habit.

I did some Pinterest surfing and found a bunch of tutorials on fabric headbands and I made one to see how she would like it.  Let's just say I have a list of colors she wants.  ;)

I also made her some elastic ribbon ones.  By the time I'm done, Amelia will have a rainbow of headbands to choose from.  What was cute was that one afternoon, we were getting ready to go out and Amelia put on a pink and black top.  She so sweetly asked if I had time to "whip up" a matching headband.  LOL.

I'm just happy she likes them and wears them.  She looks so much older with her hair pulled back.

Enjoy your day!

Pinterest strikes again!

Pinterest.  It's love/hate relationship for me.  I love going out to the site every few days to see what catches my eye. I love to pin project ideas and food recipes I see online.  It's SO much easier than having a list of browser bookmarks.  I hate that I have over 2,000 pins that I don't do anything with except virtually admire.  I've been trying to make more of the recipes that I have pinned and oh those crafty ideas.

This is one of them.  Bubble magnets, glass gem magnets... they go by multiple names.  The idea caught my eye and I thought - HEY!  I can do that!  And I did.  LOL!!

Following the quick tutorial and using my Joann and Michael's coupons, I got everything I needed and set out to work. Only thing that I did differently is that I added 2 coats of Mod Podge to the back of the photo paper.  I had one magnet hanging around to use for my test gem and the next day, the glue for the magnet made my photo bleed. I used E6000 glue since that is what I had at home and I wanted to use it because I knew it would hold the magnet.

A couple of my photos bled a wee bit again so the next time I make these (and there will be a next time), I plan on doing at least 5 coats of Mod Podge.  It dries super quick so no extra work for the extra coats.

I dug up some pictures that I had handy from our first Disney trip, made a mini photo collage at CVS and this is what I ended up with

Aren't they fun?!  I plan on making tons more.  Maybe a few for Father's Day for Chris to put in his locker at work.

Enjoy your day!

Candy Sleighs. Who knew??

Man.  Those are generating some BIG interest out on my Pinterest account!  To refresh... Ellyn posted about some VERY cute candy sleighs that she and her friend made.  I spotted them and pinned them to my Pinterest accout to remind myself to make them for Christmas 2012.  I found the time and made them for this past Christmas; which were a huge hit!

The pin out on Pinterest?  Over 200 "likes" and over 1000 "repins"!  My email account is over-run with emails about people repinning that picture.  Even my BFF in TX made a couple dozen for her girls to bring to preschool.

Ellyn - I think you've started a candy sleigh craze!  LOL!!  Because I know I'll be making them again for this year and more of them.  Some of the adults in my family were disappointed that I didn't have enough for everybody.

I've almost decided what I'll be giving away for my 500th posting.  Stay tuned!

Enjoy your day!
