Rachel is feeling better and has started her Pinwheel Sampler Quilt Along and posted the first block instructions last night. I was so excited that I made both my blocks last night.
Here they are.
Eh. I like them but I don't LOVE them. I personally like the yellow pinwheel/red gingham block better than the other. I think it's the stripe I'm not loving. And if you notice on the yellow pinwheel block... bottom right corner. I sewed it on upside down and my HST seam is off. Of course I notice all this AFTER sewing the whole block together.
I wasn't going to officially join the quilt along; just watch what was going on and then do the blocks at a later date by myself. But I got this fabric line for Christmas 2008 and I bought it specifically for a pinwheel quilt for MY BED. So why not? I can handle a block or two a week. I hope. I'm going to have to make a few extra of each block style since I do want it for my bed and Rachel's will make a generous-sized lap quilt.
If anyone is interested, the fabrics are Darla by Tanya Whelan. I just LOVE it.
Enjoy your day!

I think your blocks are great. I love pinwheels! So I think I will join too. Thanks for telling us about it. Heading over to Rachel's right now.
ReplyDeleteThey look good, Jen. I like the yellow/gingham block, too. Must feel good to finally use that fabric, and to work on something for yourself.
ReplyDeleteThat line has always been a fabric favorite for me. :) I bet when you get some more blocks done, you will love them more. Just give it a minute. I am going to work on mine today! You beat me to it!
ReplyDeletegreat fabric choice and I like both blocks
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carol. Your blocks are great. I love that fabric and those colors. Cant go wrong with pinwheels.
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks Jen. A quilt for you! I love the Darla line too. Maybe you don't like the stripes because of the two pieces with the stripes going in the same direction. Try turning the outside block so the stripe is going perpendicular to the strip in the triangle. Just at thought.
ReplyDeleteI love both of your blocks! The stripe one is fun:) Who doesn't love pinwheels. Maybe I should join in!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors, but you know me, Iam all over pink lately!
ReplyDeleteI like your blocks a lot. I think the stripes look just fine too! Of course I am partial to pinks and reds.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks Jen! I have some of those fabrics too...Darla is one of my all-time favorite lines. Your quilt is going to be beautiful.
ReplyDeletePinwheels are my favorite. I am looking forward to watching your progress.
