Pink or Green?

Help me make a decision.  I have my choice in my head but I want to see if others think the same as I do.  I'm making the Mallory Bag for our Disney trip (173 more days!).  I'm using "Twirl" from Me and My Sister Designs.

Which zipper do you like best?  The raspberry red or the lime/kiwi green?

together
raspberry
or lime/kiwi green?

So?  Which one?

Enjoy  your day!

BOM Rehab

Sinta told me about her great idea last weekend and I forgot to post about it.  We all have them.  BOMs that we started with earnest and a plan and then it all falls apart.  I have a few.  One I'm totally not finishing and will give the blocks I have completed to Punkie.  She can do whatever she wants with them.  Others, I DO want to finish.

Sinta's idea... BOM Rehab!  Work on a BOM project over the weekend and then post your results on Monday.  You don't have to finish that weekend.  Just work on it.  Let Sinta know and she will post your hard work on her blog AND put you in the pot for a nice prize at the end of the month.  See?  You will (if you win) be rewarded for your efforts!  I plan on dragging out my Birdie Stitches and finishing those.  I think I'm on July's block.  Only 1/2 a bird is stitched.

C'mon and join in.  I am going to TRY.  I think I will give the iPad a break in the evenings and get to stitching again.

OH!!  Also, do stop by Sinta's blog and give her your congratulations.  She is now a proud GRANDMA!  Congratulations Sinta!

Enjoy your day!

Creative Slump over?

I don't know what my problem has been all month but I just haven't been feeling very sew-y.  No sewing = nothing to share.  Sigh.  I even have a couple of things that I can send out to be quilted but I haven't even done that.

I finally pushed myself into my sewing room today and while I have no pictures to show you, I promise I was crafty.  I worked on a zippered tote and getting some Ruby snippets (as Darlene would call them) HSTs together.  I have no idea what I'm going to do with them but I'll figure something out.  I would have finished my zippered tote today but I didn't have a big enough piece of fusible fleece. While I have MANY little scraps of FF, it was not in me today to piece them together for a larger piece.  I also got my swap partner assignment from Heidi so I did a little blog snooping today.  Swap partner = favorite colors are purple and green.  Orange; not so much.  I have an idea of what I would like to make for her plus a little extra.

Good news is that I am NOT traveling this week to San Fran for work.  I will miss the overtime pay from that trip but I'm glad not to be going.  Trip got delayed for some time later in the year.

Here's a picture of Punk at her first Karate tournament.  She had such a good time.  She's the one in the yellow belt.

Enjoy the rest of Sunday!

FNSI Results

See that blank space up there?  Yeah.  That's what I got done during the Friday Night Sew In.  AND I'm 2 days late reporting on it.  I had GOOD intentions of sewing.  Really I did.  Punk was at her first non-family sleep-over for the night and husband was working.  I went out to run some errands after dropping Amelia off at her friend's house.  Once I got home, I was just tired.  It was after 8pm and I didn't even feel like eating anything for dinner.  So I got my pjs on, grabbed the iPad, snuggled up in bed with the TV remote and 2 cats and that is how I spent my Friday night.

True be told, I'm just not feeling it in the sewing room.  I have so much that I want to work on that I don't know what to work on first.  If all goes well, I'm planning on taking Good Friday off in a couple of weeks and just sew most of the day.

Hope all is well where you are!

Question for quilters

I have been debating a quilt backing choice in my head and I would like to get others opinions on the matter.  I have my 12 Days of Christmas quilts (well, blocks) and I'm getting ready to sew those blocks into rows (finally!).  I wanted to back the quilt with something snuggly and I was thinking either minky or chenille.  Yay or Nay?  What say you?  Too much of a pain in the you-know-what?  If I were to send the quilt out to be quilted with the minky or chenille backing, would you long arm quilters bundle it all back up and send it back to me without touching it swearing at me in the process?

I just want to know if that could be an option or not.  If not, I'm going to go with a flannel backing.  I just like the feel of minky and thought it would be fun for a quilt back.

Give me your thoughts.  I really want to hear them!

Enjoy your day!

A Little Bit Country in the Summertime

These blocks have been hanging around here for roughly 2 maybe 3 years.  Not sure.  I don't even know what my intent was with this Schnibbles pattern but I decided that I needed something festive for my living room wall.  Colors match nothing in the room but it's fun.  I know I had some troubles piecing and my seams so I just put it all aside.  It popped into my head and I dug the blocks out to work on them.  Get them into rows and add borders.  Easy peasy.

You know?  I wasn't too off.  Okay, couple of points are cut off but nothing major.  I can live with it.  It's going to hang on my wall.  No problem.  I even found my backing and binding fabrics that I bought for it.  BUT I couldn't find the rest of my charm pack to make the borders according to the pattern.  For all I know, they are in the bottom of my Amelia's scrap bucket.  I dug out some orange pokies and borders are done.

I'm happy to have these blocks in top form even if they were nowhere on my list to get done.  Now, here's the question... Who wants to quilt it for me?!  :)  If I have to do it, it will hang around here until 2014.

Enjoy your day!

Swoonin' again

I got back into the Swoon groove this last week and I actually surprised myself when I finished my next 2 blocks.  I thought I had 3 more to go.  Turns out, I only have 2 more to go.  Woohoo!  Then sashing and borders (I want mine a bit bigger for my bed).

I'm running out of room on the floor
Taking another Swoon break.  2 blocks in one weekend is enough for me.  By the end of finishing the second one, my head was swimming.   I may start cutting #8 this afternoon.  We'll see.  I need to work on those mini messenger bags.

Oh and I just wanted to say that we are out of the 200s.  198 more days until our Disney vacation!  LOL!

That's all I got.  It's been pretty slow around here in the sewing department.  My motivation is slowing down.  I think I just need to veg out.  I think that's what I'm going to do.

Enjoy your day!
