I'm not a big Instagram user (jenwith01); between blogs, Facebook, Pinterest... I just forget about IG but every now and again I will pop in there and check things out. About a week ago I popped onto Instagram and got sucked into a new project. :P
It all started with this:
Evolved into:
I just kept going.
#nestedchurndash is the quilt along happening on Instagram. They are big blocks too. 24" finished so only 9 blocks with sashing will make a very nice sized quilt. I haven't decided if I am going to keep this one for myself or give it to Amelia. I think if I give it to her, we'll have to share it. I'm going to have a hard time losing it. I'm sticking with a 2 block palette for each block and I'm really loving it. I'm just not sure what to do for the last 4 blocks. I'm going to have to start repeating colors. I'm thinking more a lime-y green with aqua or yellow as one combination, red and yellow as another. After that, I'm stuck. I don't want to do another pink block since there are 2 pinks already (pink and green/pink and orange).
What I have right now is:
pink and green
aqua and red
purple and gray
navy and yellow
orange and pink
Any 2 color combo ideas?
enjoy your day!
Jen :)
Haha -- you got sucked in! I LOVE that quilt -- yours is going to be so cute.
ReplyDeleteHow bout:
lime-orange
navy-gray
red-yellow (I liked your idea!)
and hmmm. That leaves purple and aqua (in order not to have any duplicates. Not sure about that one!
Lime is my current color crush (and I don't even like green LOL) -- you could use it in every block as far as I'm concerned!
Love your blocks! Have fun at Hershey! :0)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look great!
ReplyDeleteSince you've already decide on a red-yellow you need a green-aqua one (otherwise you would have three yellows, right?)
How about a orange-grey one? Since orange is such a bright color I think it would look good with grey to tune it down a bit.
Then you have the purple-navy option left ... mmhhh, don't know about that.
Perhaps ornage-purple (complementary colors) and then navy-grey? Perhaps a really light grey or the block could come out to dark.
purple & orange.... and yes, red and yellow, aqua and lime for sure. can't wait to see them all! I love what you've done so far
ReplyDeletegorgeous work jen and your little girl is growing up so fast,i have just sent you a request on IG my name is Vintagerose57,hope you have a lovely day Jen.xx
ReplyDeleteI really love your blocks!!
ReplyDeleteHow about just reversing the color placement in each block? For example, on the pink and orange block - put orange wherever you have pink now and vice versa
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time in Hershey! I want to make a nested churn dash too........
