Loser Monday Update

Am I a loser this week? Nope, not in the weight category but I AM a loser in other areas. Around 7 p.m. tonight, I will be 48 hours smoke free. I was a non-smoker when I was pregnant but took it back up as soon as I was home from the hospital, unfortunately. This time, I'm doing this for me and I'm feeling pretty good.

I'm not craving the nicotine too much but I've been picking at everything else this last week so I'm showing a gain. Oh well. I'm going to the gym tonight and I'm going to try to keep the eating under control.

Okay, I need to stop talking about this topic for right now. The more I talk about it, the more I think about it. I need to get busy with something else.

Enjoy your day!
Jen

  7. This is great. Focus on one thing for now, I think you are doing swell. Who says your loser Monday has to focus on diet....how about just overall health and this loss of a bad habit is GREAT. Keep it up Jen.

  10. Hi Jen- I just followed Sharon's link over to give you a quitter's pep talk. Three years ago this month I quit smoking after 32 years. Those things were with my through good times and bad, thick and thin, husband and boyfriends came and went...I always had my pack there, you know? So it was THE hardest thing I probably ever did. I wore the patch for about three weeks then stopped that too. I never went back. I swear--it was like I'd been hypnotized or something! I'd tried and failed so many times before. My grandson was 4 at the time. I found him out on the patio digging for a good size butt in the ashtray and when I rushed him outta there he was all surprised and said, "What? I'm big...I can smoke, too!" It hadn't worked for his mom and aunt but for him I realized my actions speak louder than my words and I just had to set the example. I'll be honest with you, over the next two years I put on 25 pounds, which I'm dilligently taking off now, but I could run faster with a big ol' lard ass than I EVER could with smoke lined lungs. Seriously. And I'd smell people in the grocery store, people with full carts, which meant they'd been in there at least 45 minutes, and OH MY how they reeked. I wanted to send an apology letter to everyone I'd ever met--I had no idea I stunk so bad all those years! And swap packages through the mail? Now when I get one from a smoker, I know she probably sprayed it and maybe even packed it outside but STILL it stinks like smoke, just like I'm sure my packages used to. And one thing I'll happily never say again, when my husband is coming in for a kiss; "Oooh, no! I just had a cigarettte! Gross!"
Did I help? lol. Be Strong! You can do it!
