This Little Piggie Went to the Market... This Little Piggie Stayed Home...

We have 6 piggies in our backyard. I know the picture shows 8 but 2 went to their new home already. Chris bought the piggies on Sunday and we will be raising them..... for the bacon (and pork chops and pork roast and tenderloins...). So the piggies have no names. Truth is, they are CUTE at this age and I don't go to the pen to visit them because I know they will end up in my freezer. Once they are bigger, I really don't care because they STINK and aren't really that cute anymore!

We aren't keep all 6. Only one is ours. The rest are going to various family members and friends who bought the pig but we are raising until the time comes.

OINK!

  2. Wow, I don't think I could do it, but at least you know what they're being fed - goodness knows what you're eating when you buy pork at the grocery store.

    Oink to you to!

  4. They are SO cute! My mother used to raise pigs and she always named them. We had Romeo & Juliet, Tic, Tac & Toe, Eeny, Meeny, Miney & Moe. I don't remember the rest. I used to go in the pen and get my photo taken with them (weird, yes), even when they were big and not so cute.

And chickens stink worse than pigs! Pigs only stink if their pens aren't cleaned properly. Chickens just poop everywhere they walk - gross!

(Sorry about the deleted comment - too many typos and I'm such an A-type personality that it bothered me. haha)

  5. Oh the realities of life! I couldn't even go to the meat counter at the grocery store for years... just too violent! But I have adjusted... still, they are very cute little guys.

  7. Oink! We had pigs growing up and they really don't smell if their pens are kept clean. That was the best pork ever!
