I think what made me put these blocks and fabrics away is while I do like the fabrics individually; together, not so much. But I wanted to get the blocks pieced and together in a top so I finished those up yesterday.
Here's a problem that I'm having. The pattern has 6" borders but since these blocks are so busy, I'm tempted to leave it off. The three choices I'm debating:
- use the pink cupcake fabric as the border. I found some online that I can get
- use a solid soft pink and/or green as the border - a possible double border; thin green border with a wider pink.
- no border at all

So what do you think? Border or no border? And if you vote border, which idea do you like?
Enjoy your day!

Thin green wider pink would be my pick. i love to put a little "zinger" around the quilt before adding the final border, it makes such a nice frame!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm a border kind of girl. Maybe try a bold pink or red solid and then the cupcake border. I can't ever stop at just one! The solid color would help frame out all the craziness of the blocks (which I don't think they are crazy at all!) and then finishes it out with that cute cupcake fabric. Punkie will love it! Jenn
ReplyDeleteI think cupcake border if you want it bigger. If not, I think it's great the way it is. Sometimes quilts can get so big they become cumbersome when used as a lap quilt. I love the cupcake fabric though.......yum!!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the thin green and wider pink border. I think that the borders will help tie it all together:) I'm sure that Punkie will love it regardless:)
ReplyDeleteI like borders, but I also think this one looks great the way it is! I say quilt it and be done with it and move on! :0)
ReplyDeleteI'd quilt it and be done with it. Choose a solid binding to finish it off.
ReplyDeleteOk, think about this: a 3" white border, then a triple pink & green, pink 1 /12" strips.. then back to an outer white border.
ReplyDeleteAre you sorry you asked now?
Love your quilt, I vote "no border" it looks awesome without it. I've seen lots of quilt lately without borders and they are great.
ReplyDeleteI vote for quilting it and then binding it. You could use the green for the binding. I think it looks great!
ReplyDeletetwo borders would look perfect. Green and pink seem very nice.
ReplyDeletePretty quilt top...... pink is not my color "but" your quilt is really cute.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is green stop border maybe 2 inches followed by a pink border...... I love green..... ;-}
I think a naroow green border to frame it then solid pink. very cute!
ReplyDeleteI vote no border looks great as is! Have you considered quilting it with cupcakes? I saw a quilting motif recently and immediately thought of it when I saw this one!
ReplyDeleteI would do a border but the inside border I would put a small solid.
ReplyDeleteI'd like a thin green border with a wider pink :D
ReplyDeleteI think it really depends on if you want it to be bigger. It would look great just bound the way it is. If you would like it bigger, I like the idea of a solid green or pink thin inner border, then a print (like the cupcake print) for a wider outer border. But if it were ME I would just bind it and be done. It's super cute, I really really like it!
ReplyDeleteI love the pink! What a pretty quilt. I vote 'no border'.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered a chocolate print border? I would put a thin solid dark pink border then a wide chocolate print border. I have seen some really cute cupcake prints with chocolate background. I would use the pink cupcake fabric for the back. Good luck deciding what to do. :-) Take care and God bless, Cory
ReplyDeleteI would go without borders. I love this pattern. I'm just about to start cutting up some fabric to make a baby quilt with it.
ReplyDeleteI vote no border! I made Christmas quilts for my family several years ago with the same pattern but no border and everyone loved them. I love it in pink too -- Miss Punkie is going to love it too!
ReplyDeleteI really like those blocks, Jen! I say no border...pick some neat binding fabric as an accent!
ReplyDeleteGirl ~ you are all over the place with your sewing talent. I don't sew a lick, but wish so bad I had the patience to do that. You do a beautiful job. Just stopping in. I saw your comment on Cucaroo about the 70's & 80's and "big hair"; I thought that so funny! Take Care and be safe this holiday. Debi
ReplyDeleteHow about no border and scrappy binding?
ReplyDeleteOMG I love this fabric...and what are you going to do with it? it is a very nice shade of pinks...
