I dug it out on Monday and got to work. This is what I finished so far. Not much but it's something.
See that sunburst block there on the left? I hate it. I need a substitute. I'm willing to use gold or a soft yellow for the block to represent the sun but I do not, I repeat, DO NOT want to deal with curved piecing. I'm not good at it and I don't want to use this project to hone my curved piecing skills. The quilt has small pinwheels so I was thinking a larger pinwheel but I'm not in love with that idea.
Do you have any block ideas to replace that sunburst one?
Enjoy your day!
Jen :)

Jen. Embrace your inner curve piecing guru! What if you were to applique that little round part on. I LOVE the sun. Take your time and PIN a lot! YOU can DO it!!! You're really on a roll with all your beautiful quilting. I LOVE the skinny little churn dash borders on these blocks -- SO cute!
ReplyDeleteDon't listen to Thimbleanna! - Just kidding. :) You can have your cake and eat it too! Make your pieced sunrays and in the corner of the completed block, iron on a circle that has fusible webbing on the back. Trim off the part of the circle you don't need and do a little stitching around the curve (hand or machine) just to finish it off. Voila!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.quilterscache.com/P/PinwheelBlock.html How about a different pinwheel block? Kinda like a sun, easy to piece and goes with the other pinwheels....
ReplyDeleteI was thinking a cute Dresden.
ReplyDeleteHow about a house block? In Camille's book is a house quilt with a little pinwheel within.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else said applique the sun on, and I love that idea! But I think applique has become one of my new favorite things!
