Charming Stars Sew Along

Charming Stars.  It's been on my invisible to-do list for quite some time.  Terry is hosting another sew along and she picked Charming Stars (free on the Moda Bake Shop).  Since I've been waiting to make this quilt as a whole; I made a few blocks and made myself a table runner - I thought I would join in.  Plus, I have a very healthy collection of charm packs that I need to start using instead of hoarding.

I'm using Odds and Ends by Cosmo Cricket.  Eh.  I'm not loving the fabric line but for whatever reason, I have 3 charm packs so they won the coin toss.  In another "twist", I'm using a minty-aqua as my solid instead of cream.

The quilt has 16 blocks and our September "goal" for the sew along was to get 4 blocks done.  I got 6 done.  My own monthly goal is to get 2 more blocks done so that I'm halfway through those and making pinwheels with my trimmings.  I'm going to use them somewhere in the quilt.

Once this one is done, it will make a good couch quilt.  I will then make this quilt again, using charm packs that I really like. :)

Enjoy your day! - I owe you some Disney trip photos.  Coming up soon.  I was a bit lax this trip in taking pictures but I do have some to share.

  1. Your blocks look great! Isn't it funny how our tastes in fabric change over time?

  8. I'm "snooping" around to see what others are choosing as fabrics.
I don't have any charm packs but I sure do have a lot of scraps to make 5 inch squares with.
I also found over a yard of Ivory fabric as well as a nice pastel lined print for the border.
Oh, and I have about 6 yards of a blue that I hope will work for the backing.
I also found light blue binding that I already have cut and ready to make up.

  10. Hi Jen, dropping in from Terry's blog. The stars look great in this line- funny I originally thought to use the same, but couldn't come up with a background I liked. Just love the minty aqua! 6 stars is a great effort :)
